NEW BIRCH PLYWOOD WITH A TEXTURED PHENOLIC FACE

Our flight cases, manufactured in Spain, now feature new materials from Penn Elcom; below is a technical summary of these materials.

They utilize 9.5 mm or 6.5 mm film-faced birch plywood, featuring a fine-textured matte black phenolic face and a smooth reverse side. The surface is low-gloss and fingerprint-resistant, making it ideal for cases and cabinets where a non-reflective matte or smooth finish is required.

The textured face conceals handling marks and reduces glare, while the smooth reverse side is easy to clean and accommodates hardware mounting. Constructed from five or more cross-bonded birch veneer layers, the material features a hard phenolic film that resists scratches, abrasion, chemicals, and UV rays. As the film acts as a water-resistant barrier, cut edges and drilled holes must be sealed to maintain protection in humid conditions.
